Gym. Tan. Laundry.

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

The cult hit of the early 2000s, Jersey Shore, defines the acronym to life as Gym, Tan, Laundry.

My acronym to life—KDC: Kids, Dogs, Chickens

These are the three things I am responsible for keeping alive. Josh Bragg kind of has to fend for himself, especially on the road. But he’s a good sport and has kept himself alive for 40 years now.

On the off-chance that I get to travel with Josh, the kids, dogs and chickens are the first thought that goes through my mind.

Who is going to help with the kids? Do they have activities? Sports? Games?

What kind soul is going to care for two rambunctious blue heelers with lots of energy and minimal manners?

Anyone brave enough out there to tend to 34 chickens and 1 rooster twice a day?

As always, our village comes through and everything gets covered.

But, one of my favorite elements to high-level fishing is when we get to travel together as a family. Even if a tournament is smack-dab in the middle of nowhere, the kids love nothing more than loading up and traveling to see Dad. We’re a team and it always feels best when the team is together.

I workout and eat healthy throughout the week, but come fishing travel time, I’m downing my favorite gas station snacks, drinking too much coffee, and taking constant pings from my Apple Watch to stand up. Wouldn’t trade a single moment to spend time with my favorite guy.
