The Second Beginning

May 2nd and just finished up the second stop of ABA Ram Open series on Lake Neely Henry.

It's the first tournament back since the COVID pandemic shut everything down back in mid-March.

It has felt really good just being back on the water and even better to be able to compete again. The year had started off really good, having had some good finishes in the first 3 or 4 tournaments before the pandemic happened.

Momentum is huge in this sport and I had felt like we had some great momentum going before the pandemic, so starting back up this week I was anxious to see if we could pick up where we left off.

After being off the water for most of the last two 2 months, I didn't really know what to expect as far as what stage the fish were in.

Using past experience from this time of the year, it didn't take me long to figure fish were in the post spawn funk.

There were quite a few fish still shallow, so I decided, in the tournament, I would just focus on those fish and hopefully get 5 of the right bites.

The tournament didn't go as planned but had the opportunities, I just didn't execute as well as I should have and squeaked out a 14th place finish.

Either way it felt good to be back on the water!!!
